Transforming my daughter’s room into a teenage dream took me completely out of my comfort zone.

It’s reveal day for the One Room Challenge guest posts!!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane in how my little lady’s room started out for this challenge.

  • Navy throw blankets with gold flecks help to break up all the teal. And let’s not forget the cute bow pillows!
  • Final look, I am so jealous!
  • From holding stuffed animals to holding pictures. It’s best to have a plan “B”.
  • Repurposed mirror and the most perfect picture.

To get her on board I let her have complete (almost) control. She picked the color, I found the coordinating wallpaper, but she found the furniture.

Mood board.

Without further ado, here is the finished space:

At first I tried to dig my heals in to her furniture choices because the bed and the chair were non traditional pieces and very specific. The dresser and her desk however I found on the local swap sites and are more traditional pieces. Mixing old furniture with new added more interest to the room. IT also added more to the boho chic vibe.

Honestly, it fit her personality and the vibe she wanted. Plus we sold her other furniture and needed something quick. World Market has always been my go to for quality and unique pieces.

For all the linens, and the decor, most of it was Opalhouse found at Target. What I love about this line, is that everything they put out coordinates from the bedding to the rugs. Speaking of the rug, I felt this one really tied everything together and broke up the boring carpet.

If you followed my stories, you’ll remember I had an issue with the elephant photo’s placement on the wall. I think I found the perfect compromise.

Overall I am in love with her space and so thankful to be able to give her a place to call her own. I got to learn a lot about what she likes and I was able to take a huge step out of my own comfort zone.

Thank you for following along this journey and I cannot wait to share her big sister’s room in the very near future! Be sure to check out the reveals for the other guest room makeovers for the One Room Challenge.

XOXO,
Brooke

Anything to get ideas and inspiration on what we wanted in our own home. Believe it or not, we’ve moved 10 times. Of those 4 were homes we bought and one of them a home we built. Needless to say when we saw the online photos of our “hopeful” future home plan, we agreed we had at least one more move in us. What’s something you’re looking for in your next home?

One of my favorite things to do is take long walks through construction sites surrounded by plumbing and framing. No lie. This is where we’ve gone multiple evenings over the last couple of weeks. This place has brought us a lot of peace and on the blog I’m spilling the beans on our secret.

The tragic helicopter accident that took Kobe, his daughter, and their friends rocked me in a way I didn’t know it would. It was clear that y’all loved the bedroom renovations this year and our @wearewoodgrain accent wall was a huge crowd favorite. Kennedy’s diamond pattern wall is one of my most pinned on Pinterest to this day. I’m deep in planning mode for this year and can’t wait to bring more fun content. Hope that everyone had a great night and an even better weekend!!

While this year was filled with so much uncertainty, I was still able to find some light and a more clear vision. (I’ve always said the best lessons come in the valleys of life.) I’ve spent the last few weeks with Court and the girls and I’ve come to some realizations that will change the vision I thought I had for the future. I thank you for being on this journey. I’m blown away by the people I’ve met online and in person from this community. The opportunities I’ve been blessed to experience. I pray that everyone has a safe night and we all wake up tomorrow with hope that the new year will bring more peace.
