Transforming my daughter’s room into a teenage dream took me completely out of my comfort zone.

It’s reveal day for the One Room Challenge guest posts!!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane in how my little lady’s room started out for this challenge.

  • Navy throw blankets with gold flecks help to break up all the teal. And let’s not forget the cute bow pillows!
  • Final look, I am so jealous!
  • From holding stuffed animals to holding pictures. It’s best to have a plan “B”.
  • Repurposed mirror and the most perfect picture.

To get her on board I let her have complete (almost) control. She picked the color, I found the coordinating wallpaper, but she found the furniture.

Without further ado, here is the finished space:

At first I tried to dig my heals in to her furniture choices because the bed and the chair were non traditional pieces and very specific. The dresser and her desk however I found on the local swap sites and are more traditional pieces. Mixing old furniture with new added more interest to the room. IT also added more to the boho chic vibe.

Honestly, it fit her personality and the vibe she wanted. Plus we sold her other furniture and needed something quick. World Market has always been my go to for quality and unique pieces.

For all the linens, and the decor, most of it was Opalhouse found at Target. What I love about this line, is that everything they put out coordinates from the bedding to the rugs. Speaking of the rug, I felt this one really tied everything together and broke up the boring carpet.

If you followed my stories, you’ll remember I had an issue with the elephant photo’s placement on the wall. I think I found the perfect compromise.

Overall I am in love with her space and so thankful to be able to give her a place to call her own. I got to learn a lot about what she likes and I was able to take a huge step out of my own comfort zone.

Thank you for following along this journey and I cannot wait to share her big sister’s room in the very near future! Be sure to check out the reveals for the other guest room makeovers for the One Room Challenge.

XOXO,
Brooke

This week not only was spring break for my girls, This week not only was spring break for my girls, but also the anniversary of my mom’s passing. I repotted the plant I kept from her funeral and already it looks so much better. I’ve been trying to keep busy with spring cleaning, purging, and packing, but apparently life didn’t feel like that was enough. Last night we had a trip to the Emergency Vet after Jojo came in contact with weed killer, you can see her resting on our bed. Needless to say it’s a little slow and quiet today while she rests and we watch her. Besides that and all that’s going on in the world, it’s so hard not to be in a giant funk. What’s your plans for the weekend?? I need to get some great ideas to turn this struggle bus into a party boat!
We started packing today, which means projects at We started packing today, which means projects at this house are coming to an end. Truth be told, this is the house where Cribbs Style was born. I’ll forever be grateful for all the lessons I learned in every project. Most of all, the confidence to learn and work all my power tools, which I owe to @ryobitoolsusa and @havenconference. Nothing brings me more joy than answering questions or teaching another person about tools. They’ve been the gateway to my future. 💕

Grief is such a tumultuous journey. Facebook memor Grief is such a tumultuous journey. Facebook memories are a double edge sword. 10 years ago and 2 years ago this very week, both of my parents were handed a cancer diagnosis. My father lived for another 14 months, my mom only 3 weeks. Last year we had planned to be away for the one year anniversary of my moms passing, but instead a pandemic had other plans. It’s all taken a toll on me mentally and physically. At times left me very unmotivated and completely distracted. I’ve learned to give myself grace and each day is another opportunity to have a fresh start. But y’all it’s hard. So if you see me dip in and out, that’s why. Most days my focus has just been on Court and the girls and that’s all I got. And that’s ok, but I also like to keep it real. I know we all go through bad times, hard times, but I’m here to tell you you’re not alone and I see you. All the love. 💕
Today may be St. Patrick’s Day, but I feel like Today may be St. Patrick’s Day, but I feel like I got my pot of gold yesterday!! Thank you so much for your kind words! If I didn’t do this space myself I would argue this isn’t even the same place. 🍀
