When your master closet makeover goes from dream to reality, it’s an epic occasion that must be celebrated!

Nothing makes me happier than seeing something in my head actually come to life. Some things are better left in my head, but not this, this master closet makeover was WAY overdue. I’m sure my husband is happy that it’s almost done because it means he gets his closet back. As we head into the FINAL week of the One Room Challenge, we have to look at where we started.

One Room Challenge, Master Closet

My master closet… In my defense nothing was stored away seasonally.

This picture makes me cringe. The organizer in me is shaking her head at a lot that’s going on.. Stuffed shelving, plastic hangers, piles upon piles of stuff, and a TON of clothes that needed to go away. The mom in me put everything else above my closet, but now it was time to claim it back!

Every great organizing project starts with a major purge, my master closet makeover was no exception.

I knew that this was a temporary fix, but nothing has changed since I did this part a year ago.

I had plenty of floor space and could finally see everything.

Moving all the clothes to one side gave me a chance to display important notes.

I created a capsule wardrobe and had an honest discussion about what I really needed. I also switched out my hangers to the velvet hangers which also freed up space.

Once I could see what was left in my master closet, I had a better idea where to start the makeover.

I wanted this space to not just be a closet, but a place where I could find a little inspiration. I wanted it to feel like a boutique with lots of style and color. Of course I found my biggest direction from the super amazing rug I found at Wayfair.

Look at the beautiful rug I scored from Wayfair!!

And of course who can forget the peel and stick wallpaper I found from Target?!

Slow and steady, but I’m in love!

Since last week there have been quite a few things that happened! I stained all the wood for the shelving and installed the brackets.

The supports for the shelving also has the hooks for the closet rods.

AND I finally got all the parts for the storage painted and installed!

Sneak peak of the storage I created!

That’s all you get to see!! I don’t want to give too much more away, but so far I am so happy!! The best part is, everything I own is in this closet now, including what was in the dresser in the master bedroom! Plus, I have room to expand if I need to.

I’m still working out a few more details that I hope to have figured out very soon. Like the mirror for example, I’m not sure if it’s a keeper. Needless to say I am so excited to show you the final product!!

XOXO,

Brooke

Hi Brooke. I love your color scheme…real pretty. I’ve been eyeing that wallpaper but it seems so hard to line up. Good luck finishing up 🙂

Thank you!! This is definitely something outside of my norm, so it’s been a lot of fun just to let loose a bit! I will say it was a little tricky and probably would have been a lot easier if I would have had someone help me like the instructions said. But then I don’t like to follow rules. ha ha!

Anything to get ideas and inspiration on what we wanted in our own home. Believe it or not, we’ve moved 10 times. Of those 4 were homes we bought and one of them a home we built. Needless to say when we saw the online photos of our “hopeful” future home plan, we agreed we had at least one more move in us. What’s something you’re looking for in your next home?

One of my favorite things to do is take long walks through construction sites surrounded by plumbing and framing. No lie. This is where we’ve gone multiple evenings over the last couple of weeks. This place has brought us a lot of peace and on the blog I’m spilling the beans on our secret.

The tragic helicopter accident that took Kobe, his daughter, and their friends rocked me in a way I didn’t know it would. It was clear that y’all loved the bedroom renovations this year and our @wearewoodgrain accent wall was a huge crowd favorite.
