Homes.com featured article: Preparing your home to sell.

**This post is in collaboration with Homes.com, but the opinion is of my own.**

Selling your home doesn’t have to be difficult if you take the right steps when you are preparing your home to sell.

Home staging is everything when selling your home.

The decision to put your home on the market is motivated by a number of reasons: job relocation, you need a bigger a home, need to downsize etc.. Taking the right steps when you’re preparing your home to sell will definitely impact how fast you sell and at what price.

In my article featured on Homes.com, “How to Set Your Home Apart from the Competition”,  I’ll give you some things to consider when you’re listing your home. Trust me, the last thing you want to do is fall victim to being on the market for way too long.

Before- No color and no direction

The first home we bought we absolutely loved. With two small children we decided we wanted to start thinking about schools and a bigger home to have people over and entertain. We did talk to a couple Realtor’s, but I don’t think we found the right one for us. Regardless, we also didn’t listen to what our Realtor told us about the comps and the asking price we listed with was high for that neighborhood.

After- Color and furniture placement is everything.

Getting your home set before it hits the market, can greatly impact how long you’ll stay on the market.

Our Realtor provided us with a home stager at no additional cost. I truly did listen to what the home stager told me and we tried to implement a lot of the things she suggested, but not all.   Needless to say we sat on the market for 11 months all because we didn’t do all the things I talk about in the Homes.com article “How to Set Your Home Apart from the Competition”. You can also read more about what we learned in how to sell your home without losing your sanity.

Don’t make the same mistakes when selling your home.

No matter your situation, being a smart home seller can put you in the driver seat to sell your home faster and for top dollar.

XOXO,

Brooke
